Really early childhood education

by

Children can start to learn really, really early. Studies indicate that they can learn before birth.

Because memorizing was hard for us in school, parents often think they need to protect our children from it. The reason why it was hard was only that we didn’t start early enough. Sure, foreign languages, for example, are a burden for many high school and middle school students. That’s because children aren’t supposed to learn languages in high school and middle school. They’re supposed to learn them before they start school. If they do, they may speak without an accent. It’s not compassion to wait until they’re older to begin helping them to memorize.

Small children love to imitate and repeat words. But it’s a pity that the words they repeat are “Simple Simon” and “Old Mother Hubbard,” instead of words that could help them throughout their lives. Tiny children can learn the letters of the alphabet, or the books of the Bible, even before they know what they are saying.

You are right about this as well. All I have to add is that as parents, we need to do what is best for each individual child. Some kids do a little better waiting, others are eager from the git-go. However, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with making the effort to start teaching them. Especially when they’re already so naturally curious about everything.

By the way, thank you for your comments on my blog. I thought I’d come check you out, since I didn’t recognize the name. :) How did you find me?

I probably found http://www.faerylandmomsomething.blogspot.com/ through a Technorati search. I actually visited it a couple of times before, but that was my first comment.

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for stopping by. I’ve been browsing around your site. Is it just one site with many authors or a bunch of different sites linked together?
I love that you have Bill Cosby on—he is AWESOME.

I answered your question in my comments so as not to clog up your comments with my answer. :) lol

Your post on children learning early….I think that anything is easier if you put it to a beat. I find that true for myself but I’ve really seen that in action with my son and his schoolmates.

Thanks Terri. This blog is part of the 451press network, of which I write for only one blog. But we have several other parenting sites.

A beat. Yes, I’ve been trying to recite Scripture with a beat while I change my son’s diapers. That works sometimes better than others. Some of the best rhymes I learned as a child sound good but don’t say much.

Absolutely agree with you Michael. That’s why I read my kids a lot of things…even the newspaper. I read them rhymes and poems too. It’s best to kick start education when kids don’t know the meaning of the word ‘burden’.

    Thanks for your post!
