Baby strike
My son had nursing difficulties. He bit my wife, which causes difficulties. He did it one time after he got his first teeth. That’s how we found out he had teeth. He hasn’t done it again. A friend says biting is not as satisfying for babies once they get teeth. I know it’s not as satisfying for my wife.
He still sometimes fights at the breast, as if he is being tortured by it instead of fed. But he’s done that kind of thing all his life. He is a good baby. He even smiled at my wife after he bit her. She didn’t smile at him.
He recently organized a short, one-baby nursing strike. He refused to eat for about five hours, instead of his usual 1:45 interval between feedings. My wife analyzes these things. But she wants to know, if that was a strike, where the picket signs were.
After a couple of feeding gaps, lasting a few hours at a time, my son settled back into his usual routine. Which included sometimes biting and fighting. We don’t fight or bite, my wife and I. We’re nonviolent.
